Work in Hawke's Bay

Hawke’s Bay is New Zealand’s largest growing region

Apples, grapes, kiwifruit, peaches, nectarines, apricots are just some of the fruits that are grown in Hawke’s Bay. More than half of New Zealand’s apples are produced here and 40% of the nation’s stone fruit. Therefore, seasonal work opportunities are nearly year round.

Work opportunities now

The current season is Early Autumn. Typical jobs that are currently available now are apple picking, grape harvesting, general orchard and vineyard work, berry picking, pack house and factory.

At Travellers Lodge, we have great working relationships with many reputable orchard owners and contractors and we can easily assist you with finding work in Hawkes Bay. We aim to have backpackers working within 48 hours of arriving (most start working the day after they arrive!)

Before working in NZ you'll be required to have a valid work visa, bank account and IRD number, and a car is always advantageous but not always required. The Lodge owns and loans out several cars and a van so we can always assist you with getting to work.
